The PLC is the closest AV weapon to actual balance.
The forge gun needs work on a couple fronts. Mostly rate of fire, but also the std forge is the hands down worst of the lot.
The swarms are a mess. And bluntly that problem goes back to how it was originally designed. Rattati has to work with that mechanical horror and blaming him for it accomplishes jack.
The gunnlogi series of HAVs are too squishy currently IMHO to be functionally viable as an independent unit.
The lack of parity on av weapons makes it hard to balance, which leads to the removal of profiles idea that most find lackluster.
The memory choke on the ps3 keeps av parity from happening. Hopefully SKINS plus cores plus suit flattening and removal of extraneous assets fixes this.
AV parity allows rattati to balance things so that minmatar and caldari AV excel smashing armor tanks and utterly suck vs. Shields. It allows the reverse to be true for amarr and gallente. The seeming universal applicability of certain AV options really thoroughly obscures the issues.
I am not always fully clear when I explain things. I admit I seem to miss things, but I am keenly aware of issues such as isk cost of vehicles, and I also am fully considering the effect of beefing up av in any way and the effect it will have on dropships.
It's why I occasionally (seemingly futilely) ask for dropship pilot input when I'm doing things.
Zaria recommended kayru ( am I spelling that right? ) but I can't remember talking to him for any significant length of time.
There is no one issue that will bring vehicles and av into a semblance of balance.
One of those things is a simple question:
Is vehicle driving supposed to be an actual, functional and sustainable role, or are vehicles intended to be immensely expensive temporary power-ups?
If it's the former I actually have a lot of ideas.
If it's the latter then everything I've cooked up needs a re-think.
Unfortunately that question can only really be answered by rattati's team of development crazies.
WoW has taught me that Purple means Legendary. This means Quafe suits are the optimal loadout for killing all of you.
